Weddin Bells @ Raffles Town Club

// October 10th, 2009 // Journal

This morning, I woke up to a strong knock on my door.  As I head towards the door, I can only remember that I took a long drive back from KL and pretty much forgot the reason that brought me back. As tireness grew, I could only think of lighting up a cigarette while recalling what brought me back.

After mum spoke, I know why I’m back but it’s not logical to wake up at 0830. It’s Saturday! A kid like me is suppose to sleep in until 1400 followed by lunch and lots of caffeine activities.

So prepared myself and headed down to Singapore to witness my cousin, Esther’s marriage which was held in Raffles Town Club. It was a christian marriage ceremony which is pretty different from the typical ones that I have attended. What caught my attention was not that but something else. When I arrived at the hall, I thought to myself that it couldn’t be here as the place was filled with photography portrait. It looks like an exhibition hall for an art expo.

Felt like a kid again when I met up with my cousins as we don’t have much opportunity to catch up with one another and not even in Chinese New Year since some of them are either working in overseas or have migrated.

While waiting for the ceremony to begin, I actually found out that the Bridegroom was a military officer serving Singapore Navy. How cool is that? So it’s not only an art expo kind of wedding ceremony, but a military type as well with soldiers on both side of the aisle raising their sword as the bride walks through.

Another thing that caught my attention is what I personally would like to call it; The Tree of Memories. While everyone were socializing outside the hall, the girls from the Bride’s side will ask you to pose for their Polaroid. Upon snapping, the photo was given to you where you could scribble something behind it before hanging to a tree that was made available at the hall.

It was the best wedding ceremony that I have attended throughout this year. My blessings to Esther & Adrian in all aspect of their life, and congratulations on the celebration of Love while moving on to the next stage of life. Indeed a blissful marriage it has been.
